Treating Diseased Tissue Using Light-Activated Drugs
Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) is the use of light-activated drugs which produce singlet oxygen to treat diseased tissues. The drug undergoes a chemical reaction when light of a particular wavelength and intensity is applied, resulting in a therapeutic effect.
Actinic Keratosis Treatment
- Levulan® Kerastick® (aminolevulinic acid HCl) for Topical Solution, 20% plus blue light illumination using the BLU-U® Blue Light Photodynamic Therapy Illuminator (Levulan PDT) is indicated for the treatment of minimally to moderately thick actinic keratoses of the face or scalp. We encourage you to speak with your doctor about Levulan PDT. It may be the right treatment for you.
Acne Treatment
- The BLU-U Blue Light Photodynamic Therapy Illuminator is also FDA cleared to treat moderate inflammatory acne vulgaris. If you have moderate acne and are uncomfortable taking antibiotics or are unhappy with your current treatment results, ask your doctor if BLU-U is right for you.
